The University of Galway’s Access Centre is holding a free information evening on May 8, and it’s a great chance to learn more about how they support people getting into third-level education.
If you’ve ever thought about going to university but felt like it wasn’t for you—maybe because of cost, life experience, or support needs—this event is worth checking out.
What They Offer
These courses are designed to open doors for people who might not have had the usual route to college:
- Access Foundation Programme A free, full-time course to help underrepresented groups get into university.
- Joint Diploma in Foundation Studies A part-time course for mature students. Fee: €360 (or €60 for those receiving social welfare).
Both courses can lead to full-time undergraduate degrees at the University of Galway.
Support You Can Expect
- Disability support
- Help for care-experienced students
- One-on-one meetings with staff
- Practical and academic support to help you succeed
If this sounds like something for you, you can also check out your local university’s Access or Foundation programmes, as many offer similar supports and routes into education.
The Access Centre team will be there on the day to answer your questions and help you find the right path for your future.
