Coffee & Talk 40+: A New Social Group for Autistic Adults Aged 40 and Over

Many autistic adults reach midlife having spent decades masking, adapting, and navigating social spaces that were never designed with them in mind. For those diagnosed later in life, or who identify as autistic without a formal diagnosis, finding a genuinely safe, low-pressure social space can feel almost impossible.

Coffee & Talk 40+ was created in response to that reality.

What Is The Social Group Coffee & Talk 40+?

Coffee & Talk 40+ is a new, relaxed social group for autistic adults aged 40 and over.
It is not a therapy group. It is not a skills group. It is simply a place to exist socially without pressure.

The group runs as a 3-month trial. If it proves useful and meaningful for participants, it will continue. If not, it will stop. No forced continuity. No artificial growth.

Who Is This Social Group For?

Autistic adults aged 40+

This group is for:

Autistic adults aged 40 and over
People who are late-diagnosed
People who are self-diagnosed
People who do not feel comfortable in mixed-age or high-energy social settings

A formal diagnosis is not required to attend.

What the Space Is Like

Coffee & Talk 40+ is intentionally designed to be low demand and low sensory load.

What You Can Do

You are free to:

Sit quietly by yourself
Read a book
Have a coffee
Talk about your interests
Meet new people
Sit alone or at a table with others
Stay for a short time or for the full session

There is no expectation to socialise, speak, perform, or explain yourself.

What You Won’t Find

You will not encounter:

Judgement
Social pressure or expectations
Sensory overwhelm
Members of the general public

Coffee & Talk 40+ is held at Third Space Café, with the café reserved exclusively for the group during the session. There are no walk-ins and no external audience.
